NO SITE, NO KRC SHOW

2009 marks the 30th anniversary for the Keystone Record Collectors (KRC) organization and their monthly Pennsylvania Music Expo. However, unless a show venue is located soon, there may not be any reason to celebrate.

Officers of the non-profit organization recently learned that the 6,200 square foot location they have been sub-renting for a year will not be available after the September 14th show. That site, the Pennsylvania Jaycees Bingo Hall at 2460 New Holland Pike in Leola, outside of Lancaster, is no longer home to the twice weekly bingo operation. The Jaycees decided to suspend operations because of economic constraints.

Due to this decision Keystone Record collectors needs to find a new venue to continue their monthly music expo. We are asking the help of the media and business/organizations help us find a new home.
The club is hopeful that a suitable site can be arranged. Considerations include:

  • Preference to keeping the show in Lancaster County
  • 7,000 square feet or more
  • The ability to hold the shows the second Sunday of the month
  • Easy load-in/load-out capabilities for participating vendors
  • Ample parking in a climate controlled building
  • A modest rent

“We don’t want our 29 year old organization to fade into oblivion”, said current President Bill Donohue. He continued, “We have provided a tremendous resource to music collectors from all over the East Coast and beyond, not to mention the economic boost to local restaurants, motels and other places the day we hold our show each month.”

Anyone with location leads is asked to call the club telephone at: 717-898-1246.

The Keystone Record Collectors do not charge an admission to attend, making an accurate count of people attending difficult; however club officials estimate 700 - 850 people find their way to the monthly swap meet.

Weather Cancellation Procedure

“If we plan to cancel, due to inclement weather, we will make a determination by noon Saturday. You can call the KRC number, 717-898-1246 for a weather update and show operation status - that will be your most up-to-date source. (If there is no special message, the show is on.) You can also listen to York/Harrisburg/Lancaster area radio stations or visit their web sites for an announcement. For PA Turnpike conditions: 1-800-331-3414 (wait for menu) For Interstate Highway conditions: 1-888-783-6783 (In PA only). Obviously, only travel if you can safely do so. Note that the weather in your area may not be what we are experiencing in Lancaster. Use common sense.”
